Dear Club and League Secretaries
Please find below some information in relation to the previous correspondence regarding the Child Wellbeing and Protection training that all officials are now required to complete.
SYFA, along with the Scottish FA are working together to implement positive and consistent practices in relation to Child Wellbeing and Protection. With this in mind you can now find over 40 workshops scheduled in the first half of the year to support Child Wellbeing and Protection Officers (CWPOs) at clubs.
Managing Children’s Wellbeing is a free, 3 hour workshop which aims to help CWPOs have an understanding of implementing the national context of wellbeing, safeguarding and protecting children in a football environment and be aware of risks to children’s wellbeing and the procedures in place to help minimise these risks.
From July 2018, this workshop will be a compulsory requirement for all club CWPOs. All CWPOs must therefore have completed this training by 30 June 2018*.
Please note that this workshop is for club Child Wellbeing and Protection Officers only. It is the responsibility of the Club Secretary to ensure that this information is communicated internally within the club and forwarded on the club’s Child Wellbeing & Protection Officer.
CWPOs can search available dates and book on to workshops by taking the following link:
As previously indicated, all club officials, regardless of their position, will also require to complete the E-Learning course by 30 June 2018. This is a free, online training module and takes around 50 minutes to complete. Details of how to book onto this course can be found on the attachments. I would be very grateful if you could communicate this to all officials within your club.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
*If completed in the last 3 years, Children 1st, In Safa Hands, workshop is an accepted alternative.
