Latest Guidelines re Travel Arrangements for SYFA

We received this e-mail from SYFA recurrent restrictions on youth football. The league secretary will endeavour to try keep teams playing in accordance with the new guidelines. Thanks for all your co-operation SERYFA

Following the earlier update regarding travel exemptions, I just wanted to clarify some key points.

1. New travel exemptions for children’s and youth football, allowing under-18s to travel freely for exercise in areas within Levels 0-3.

This relates to individual players: children and young people under 18 can travel freely within levels 0-3 to participate in training and matches. Within levels 0-3, a player’s address will not impact their opportunities to train and play.

2. Teams should continue to compete in their local area at all levels and at all ages.

This is particularly relevant to leagues: please endeavour to keep fixtures as local as possible. This does not necessarily mean within the same local authorities, but we would ask when you are organising games, that you avoid long journeys wherever possible.

3. Teams should continue to compete in their local area at all levels and at all ages.

This relates to teams, not individuals. Teams based in tier 3 areas must play against other teams based a in tier 3 area. Teams based in tier 2 areas must play against other teams based a in tier 2 area. A tier 3 team cannot play a tier 2 team.

I hope this provides greater clarity; please feel free to share with your teams.

Kind regards,

Florence Witherow

National Secretary
